Detailed Description
Old Overholt Rye Whiskey has its origins as far back as 1810 when it was founded by brothers Abraham and Christian Overholt of Pennsylvania at the family farm that would become the West Overton Distilling Company. That distillery closed to Prohibition in 1920. Eventually, the label was sold to National Distillers, which was later absorbed by Beam Global of Fortune Brands, which produces the rye whiskey today.
Old Overholt Straight Rye Whiskey Tasting Notes
Nose: Not as ‘in your face’ as rye can be, but the mild spice is there, alongside some sweetness and fruitiness, especially apples.
Palate: Vanilla, then that rye spice, summer fruits with some darker spices developing.
Finish: More prominent rye on the finish.
