Detailed Description
The Bow Street 18 Years Cask Strength is a blend of pot still and grain Irish whiskeys, bottled at cask strength. It was matured initially for 18 years in both ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks at the Midleton Distillery, Co. Cork. It was re-casked in first-fill ex-bourbon American oak barrels for a final six to 12 months at the Jameson Distillery Bow Street in Dublin. Only 84 casks can be stored there at any one time, so this edition is truly small batch.
Jameson Bow Street 18 Years Irish Whiskey Tasting Notes
Nose: The nose is rich in pot still elements and filled with dark, antique oak which Melting butter and soft toffee pennies slowly build over. Prickles of subtle sherry spice emerge among a slight grassiness, plum compote and a touch of bitter herbs.
Palate: A thick, gooey blend of Galaxy Caramel, treacle and butterscotch retain a deep and luscious sweetness against more oak and a hint of leather. Bramble berries and black cherry rolling tobacco add depth among drying coriander spice.
Finish: The oak influence remains among rich vanilla pod earthiness and a hint of strawberry jam in a long, composed finish.
