Detailed DescriptionJameson Irish Whiskey is crafted from a mash of malted and unmalted barley that is triple-distilled — just as it was by John Jameson himself centuries ago — through three separate copper-pot stills: a wash still, a feint still and, finally, a spirit still. The mash itself is made using barley, maize and pure Irish water, further adding to the unique character of the whiskey. As an experiment, Jameson recently sent several of its used casks to Franciscan Well, a craft Irish brewery, for use in aging the brewery’s lagers, ales, stouts and wheat beers. Franciscan Well is built on an old monastery which dates back to 1219, and much like the Jameson Distillery, Franciscan Well combines modern production techniques with rich, Irish tradition. This Jameson Select Reserve Small Batch is a blend of 12 years old, pot still Irish Whiskey, and 5 year old Grain Whiskey. This exclusive blend is unique in that is only made a few days of the year. It is not used by any other Jameson Label. The whiskeys are matured in either toasted Sherry casks or charred Bourbon barrels. This Select Reserve is treasured by Irish Whiskey connoisseurs all over the world.
