Detailed Description
This is the first official release of a single grain whiskey from Irish Distillers. Method and Madness reinforces Irish Distillers’ “continued commitment” to experimentation and innovation at the Midleton Distillery. Single Grain Irish Whiskey Finished in Virgin Spanish Oak has been matured in ex-Bourbon barrels and finished for 12 months in toasted, virgin Spanish oak from Galicia. The process adds “complexity, cask character and a spicy note” to the liquid.
Method & Madness | Finished in Virgin Spanish Oak | Single Grain Irish Whiskey Tasting Notes
Nose: Plenty of that classic toffee-popcorn aroma I find in grain, along with a touch of black pepper, floral notes and a hint of pencil shavings.
Palate: Rich, sweet and spicy – very easy drinking. Butter popcorn this time, joined by clove, cinnamon, nutmeg and mint. Delightful!.
Finish: The creamy grain and spiky spice balance out well.
