Detailed Description
Taketsuru 21-Years-Old is a vatted Japanese malt whisky, blended using single malts from Nikki’s Yoichi and Miyagikyo Distilleries. Named in honour of Masataka Taketsuru, one of the two founders of the Japanese whisky industry and the founder of Nikka, the company which produces this “pure malt”.

Nose: Plenty of oak influence with notes of prunes and soy sauce. Cocoa, espresso beans, almost a touch of anise.
Palate: Spices, black pepper, loads of tangy sherry, hints of turmeric and other spices. Then ground ginger, mixed peels, hints of marmalade.
Finish: Finish is long and complex, with notes of citrus, cinnamon and woody spices lingering.
Distillery Information
The company operates a number of distilleries and other facilities in Japan, including two Japanese whisky distilleries, the Yoichi distillery in Yoichi, Hokkaido (established in 1934), and the Miyagikyo distillery in Aoba-ku, Sendai, Miyagi Prefecture, Northern Honshu (established in 1969). It also owns the Ben Nevis Distillery (acquired in 1989) in Scotland.
