Macallan Edition No. 1 Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky is the first release in a new annual limited released from the esteemed distillery. Macallan Edition No. 1 is made from whisky aged in eight different styles of European and American oak casks. Each cask was chosen by The Macallan Master Whisky Maker, Bob Dalgarno, with the idea to create a rich and complex whisky.

Edition No.2 is a collaboration between master blender Bob Delgarno and legendary Spanish chefs Joan, Josep and Jordi Roca. A combination of sherry puncheons, butts and refill hogsheads, this is a deliciously floral and fruity whisky with notes of tropical fruit, black pepper, liquorice and brandy snaps.

The third release in The Macallan’s wood-focused Edition series saw master perfumer Roja Dove and master whisky maker Bob Dalgarno create a whisky using their very particular sets of skills. Dove pinned down the flavour profile for Edition No. 3 by using the same formula he would for a perfume: pinpointing complementary aromas, and balancing these with a “counterpoint” note. The resulting liquid is a combination of six American and European oak casks, with deliciously sweet, floral notes up front.

Nose: Reminiscent of a fine fragrance, the nose leads with vanilla ice cream, fresh cut oak and delicate florals. Orange oil provides subtle grandeur while ginger, cinnamon and nutmeg flit in and out in various guises. Vanilla imparts sweetness, leading citrus fruits forward then allowing chocolate to show. Burnished oak delivers a soft ending.
Palate: Sweet fruit, vanilla and rich fruit cake with suggestions of apricot, pear and crisp green apple. Hints of ginger and cinnamon are balanced with a light resinous oak finale.
Finish: Long, sweet and fruity, leaving a lasting impression on the senses.

The Macallan Edition No. 4 Single Malt Scotch Whisky Tasting Notes
Nose: Bold and rounded honey with a sweet apple note. Orange zest follows a background of ginger and nutmeg. Robust, polished matured oak comes at the end in contrast to the subtle green wood and oral undertones.
Palate: Nutmeg with wood spices and green cloves open up immediately, with a calm following the intense beginnings, leaving a sweet and vanilla viscous mouth coating.
Finish: Fruity with oaky sweetness, long and lasting.

This 2019 release in the Macallan’s Edition series has been inspired by the natural colour spectrum of the Speyside single malt. Collaborating with the Pantone Color Institute, Edition No.5 was crafted from 100% American oak casks from three distinguished bodegas, selected primarily for their colour. Bottled at 48.5% abv, this limited edition is presented in packaging featuring the unique purple colour created by Pantone especially for this release.
